IT Picnic Kid's Desserts

So, we had a little picnic at work this past weekend. I was volunteering to make all kinds of yummy side dishes etc, but everyone looked at me and said NO! you are the dessert girl! So I made classic lemon pie (NEVER MAKE FOR A PICNIC AGAIN WHEN IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE 104 Degrees OUTSIDE!!), dirt cups, "watermelon" cupcakes, and rice krispy treats. So yummy...

I am sure everyone in the world has made dirt cups!! Fill the bottom of the cup with mini chocolate chips, cover with chocolate pudding, crushed Oreos, and gummy worms in the mix for fun! These were so cute and ran away at the picnic.

"Watermelon" cupcakes were so freaking cut
e! I made vanilla cupcakes with red food coloring and some mini chocolate chips in the batter. I cooked them, and they looked just like the inside of a watermelon. I topped them with green frosting for the rind. Then at the cooking store, I found watermelon flavored sprinkles. Such a great addition!

Rice Krispy's...come on go to the store, buy Rice Cereal, and read the side of the box! HOWEVER, we did let the boyfriend do this batch, so they did not turn out so great..haha. When they say "take off heat and add in cereal," they really do mean that. And a 13x9 inch cooking dish is NOT a cookie sheet...any visuals yet? lol...so we salvaged most of them, they tasted fine and we threw some chocolate on top of some of them...can't go wrong with anything topped with chocolate! Super fun picnic too!

Finally Amy's Birthday Cake!

I am finally posting pictures from Amy's birthday! Let me tell you, I got really upset about this cake because it kept fighting me. So I think we needed a break which is why it took a while to post this. For Amy's b-day we told her we would go with her to help her pick out a new computer! Therefore, we saw it fitting to make the cake a computer to have her have the "gift."
Honestly, I made a basic vanilla and strawberry cake, and swirled them together, because they are her favorite.

Then....the evil part, how to make a keyboard edible? Aha! A Hershey bar. I decorated the Hershey bar with individual keys and letters (took hours) and I thought it didn't look half bad for my first attempt!
I made the cake stand up and iced a black screen on with "www.HappyB-DayAmy" on it.
I think Amy loved it, but we are still looking for that perfect computer for her birthday. :)
